News Malawi Government College to hit cybersecurity degree programs in two major cities – Malawi Nyasa Times

The Malawi School of Government (MSG) has stormed the two major cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe, selling degrees in cybersecurity and networking.

The school, formerly known as the Malawi Institute of Management (MIM), offers the course in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire in the UK.

Dr. Jessie Kabwila, Acting Executive Director of MSG Kanengo Campus, told Nyasa Times after the first event in Blantyre that the new program is open to those with and without a computing background.

Kabwila said the program is expected to help learners assess the security risks inherent in computer networks and the techniques available to address them.

She reminded the public that in the country, only their institution offers this degree in cybersecurity and networking.

However, she urged Malawians to take advantage of this opportunity and advance their careers in cybersecurity.

The course will equip learners with the intellectual, technical and interpersonal skills necessary to participate in the design, implementation, management and security of modern computer systems.

Alex Chanza, Head of External Programs at MSG Kanengo Campus, said in his speech that the computing programs offered by the institution will be delivered through NCC Education’s virtual learning environment, where learners will be taught by NCC’s contract staff and validated and awarded by Universities UK to Central Lancashire. Computing courses offered by the institution include NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing and Cybersecurity, BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems and BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity and The internet.
