How to Check iPhone Battery Health
Your iPhone battery becomes less efficient over time, but it’s also possible for your brand new iPhone to experience battery failure.To quickly check if there is a problem with your battery health, visit set up > Battery > Battery Health and Charging. If you’re running anything below iOS 16.1, the latter will appear as battery health.
At the top, you’ll see the battery’s maximum capacity, which should be at 100% or close to it if you have a relatively new iPhone.
However, what you want to see is peak performance and the following sentences.if you see Your battery is currently supporting normal peaks Performanceyou don’t have any identifiable battery problems, and you don’t need to replace the battery.

Do you need to replace your iPhone battery?
If you see any of the following messages, You may need to replace the battery, or at least make an appointment with Apple or an authorized service provider to have your battery checked:
- The iPhone shut down unexpectedly because the battery was unable to provide the necessary peak power. Performance management has been applied to help prevent this from happening again / You have manually disabled performance management protection.
- This iPhone cannot determine battery health. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can repair the battery. More information on service options.
- The health of the battery drops significantly. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the battery to restore full performance and capacity. More information on service options.
Depending on whether you have insurance (third-party or AppleCare+), you may not need to spend any money at all to replace your iPhone’s battery. If your iPhone is new, you have at least a one-year warranty to replace a defective battery. If you don’t have insurance, Apple will charge you about $49 to $99 to replace the battery. Additionally, you can check the Apple Service Plans page to see if a replacement or repair plan is available for your device.
You can even replace your own batteries.

Is there any way to prolong iPhone battery life?
The faster your day-to-day battery life is drained, the faster your overall battery life will drop, so according to Apple, here are some tips to follow:
- Update to the latest software available.
- Adjust screen brightness (manually or automatically) as desired.
- Use Wi-Fi when available.
- Enable low power mode as needed.
- Turn off Background App Refresh (either overall or on a per-app basis).
- Turn off location services (either collectively or on a per-app basis).
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
- Turn on airplane mode when applicable.
- When you use your computer to charge your phone, make sure your computer is plugged into a power source.
You can turn on auto-brightness (left) and prevent apps from refreshing in the background (right) to improve battery life and longevity.
